Fun with Friends!

We went to the beach with our friends Shanda and Allie. We had a great time. We stayed for about 2 hours. Played in the sand and the water and had a picnic lunch. We met a girl there on vacation. She latched onto our little group and hung with us the whole time. She adored Anna and kept wanting us to play with her in the water. It was a little scary though cause she didn't know how to swim. I kept thinking if something happens to her I will be responsible. We never went out to far so that I could avoid that whole issue. Anna and Allie never could get on the same page on what they wanted to do. Allie liked the sand the best and Anna liked the water. Anna would come out to play with Allie in the sand for a few minutes and the water would start calling to her. Allie would come into the water to play with Anna for a few minutes and the sand would call her. So unfortunately Shanda and I didn't have a lot of time to visit but it was fun having another Mom there anyway. My knees got banged up a little on the broken shells in the water. Wah!!!

What a wonderful weekend!

Friday we started out by going to the beach with an old friend. We grew up together and stayed friends all the way through high school. We lost touch and haven't seen each other in years! We found each other on My Space and come to found out she will be spending a lot of time near me this summer. It was really neat hooking up and finding out whats going on back home. Who is married with kids etc. I hope that we will get to get together often this summer. We are even talking about a reunion of sorts with 2 of our other friends.

Friday night we went to see Sesame Street Live! We went with our friends, Angel and Trooper. We had a lot of fun. We went to Mellow Mushroom first and we had to rush so we only got sandwiches. It was fun though there is such a lively atmosphere there. We ran down to the show and made it a few minutes early. A few minutes after we got there our old friends Matt, Melissa and Miles came in and funnily enough sat in front of us lol. We enjoyed the show and some cotton candy. Anna did great. She was clapping and dancing and just totally engrossed in it all. Even Trooper stayed mesmerized through most of it.

Saturday was just had a nice day. We walked to the park that is about a mile away and let Anna spend about an hour there. Of course some how we ended up keeping an eye on a 5 year old that was out there by himself. It amazes me that a Mother would let her little boy go to the park by himself at 5. We walked back and spent the rest of the day just doing stuff around the house. Chris is cleaning out the garage and I did a few things around the house. Anna pretty much spent the day with her Daddy. She loved working with him and taking things to the dump. She likes riding in his truck!

Sunday was of course church day. We had a fish fry last night to get us ready for Small Groups. We are going to start meeting in small groups on Sunday nights. It will be fun, I think, although we have never done anything like it. If you have, why don't you tell me your thoughts on it. The fish fry was a blast. The kids ran around like crazy and Anna is even starting to come out of her shell. She was waving and talking to almost every one. Which is great for me to see because I have been worried about how shy she is. Hopefully she is finally breaking through that. Of course on the flip side of that I love that she will sit in choir practice with me without causing a fuss and even sit through the preacher talking for 10 minutes.

Sand Art

So the Sand Art Festival was today! It was very cool. I can't believe we had never heard about this before. You could find all sorts of things made out of sand. Below is just a hand full of them. There were probably close to 50 or so out there. It was nice to spend the day with Chris and Anna on the beach. What a way to kick off vacation!
Just in case you can't tell this was a couch and a tv.
A whale of course. They had there model right in front and I have to say they were dead on with it.
This was Aztec ruins or something of the sort. I just thought it looked pretty cool.
A sea turtle. They were going to use shells to make the markings on the back.
This is an octopus. I thought he was very cool!

Beach Bums!

I have had a super busy week! Tuesday was Chuck E Cheese which was formerly *Showbiz Pizza starring Billy Bobs. Wednesday we went to the Bamboo Farm to join our friends Lori and Brooks and today was the best day of all until tomorrow ;) We went to the beach again but this time with LOTS of friends. We had roughly 10 children there and 6 ladies there. It was so much fun. We flew kites, well one the other one was possessed I swear. We played in the sand and soaked up the sun (to much) and most of the kids played in the freezing cold water. Anna didn't want anything to do with the freezing cold water. We had a picnic lunch and tons of laughs. It was the perfect day!

A F~U~N~tastic Day!

Shawn over at Letters to my Daughters has started a new campaign.

Here it is: The F-U-N Injection Challenge: Highlighting the fun in Motherhood.

Many of life's great mysteries is the ability for our minds to play tricks on us and, I feel this is especially easy when two toddlers are fighting over which page you should read next, or when both want to wear the one and only pair of cupcake pajamas.

Sure, motherhood is hard and we all relate to that, but we all know that there is a lot of AWESOME involved.

In honor of her fun campaign I took Anna to the beach. I know this isn't an option for everyone but it is for us even though it takes us upwards to 45 minutes to get there. It is so peaceful and fun I really don't know why I don't do this more often. Well, yeah I do it takes gas and gas is not cheap! But back to the fun part of it lol. We explored, chased birds, watched people fishing and trying to surf. We looked at algea and a jelly fish that had washed up. Most of all we laughed and ran and spent time just being happy and not worrying about all of the other stuff. You know, the dishes and the laundry and the yard work. All of the stuff that calls my name when I am at home.

Now run out and do something that makes you smile!

The Best Birthday Ever!

I couldn't have asked for a better day! We started out by going to the beach. We got there around 9:15ish. We only stayed about an hour and a half but it was jammed packed with activity. We played in the sand, in the water, chased birds, watched a woman get saved by the life guards. I felt like we were watching Bay Watch in person lol. We got to see some fishermen pull up 3 fish (Anna loved that). We saw a Coast Guard helicopter go over and we waved at them. They waved back! We found a Star Fish! We saw several Jelly fish (Which is why I didn't stay in the water much). & My hubby saw some dophins (I somehow missed them). All of this in an hour and a half. Imagine if we had stayed longer! We left there and not 15 minutes later it is pouring down rain with the loudest thunder I have ever heard and streaks of lightening. We made it home and had some yummy chicken salad and potato salad left over from dinner last night. After trying to get Anna to take a nap she played with her Daddy so that I could clean the kitchen and have some me time. After that we baked my birthday cake as a family. It was a ton of fun. Anna thoroughly enjoyed it especially since she helped her Daddy with quality control, lol. Shortly there after Aunt Casey arrived! Anna was so excited to see her she couldn't contain herself lol. So we headed to dinner at my favorite you guessed it Mexican! YUMMY!!! My hubby went to play poker with the guys and us girls came home had some birthday cake and played!

Thank you for making my birthday special!!!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

So today is my day. 34 years ago my Mother delivered me at 5 lbs and some odd oz. My Dad slept in the waiting room. My brother was home with my Grandmother, I think. It is hard for me to imagine that moment for my parents. I mean I know what it was like for us but it is different when you think about your parents in that moment. Did they feel the wonder and awe of this miracle bestowed on them? Did they wonder what I would grow up to be like? Who I looked like? Did they dream of a wonderful relationship with me?

Today is my birthday and my hubby is taking me to the beach! I am very excited and then my SIL is coming to town and she is taking us to dinner. I am excited to feel the love from those around me and know that they are glad I was born! So toast me at dinner tonight or have a yummy "dusurt" in my honor! Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Day at the beach!

We had a busy day today. It started out for my hubby at about 5:45 or so. We had a yard sale with our church benefiting our youth. Since he works with the youth he had to be there bright and early. Anna and I followed him several hours later lol. We got there at about 8:30 and stayed for a while. We did our part and bought a few things while we were there including a pair of super cute beach shoes for Anna. They are purple and have a pink and green strip down the side. She really seemed to like them and for $.50 you can't beat that. Then we also bought some legos that will fit on the lego table at Yia Yia and Pop's house. So we did our part! After a while our friends Matt, Melissa and Miles came by and we headed out to the beach. We had to leave my hubby there to finish his duties to the youth poor thing and in this heat too YUCK! So we stopped and got some KFC to have on the beach and away we go. I can't tell you how much more fun it is going to the beach with a child than it was without! She makes everything seem so much more fun and exciting. We played in the shallow section with the waves breaking over us for a while and then we went out to the deeper water. Anna really loved it. She paticularly loved the kite that someone was flying. We had our picnic lunch and then went right back out. It was really great. Well I would love to keep going but someone is desperate for a little TLC. Have a great afternoon!

Motherhood:

Motherhood definitely has its ups and downs. Right now I am listening to an ultra whiney little girl. Why you ask well simply put because she was expecting to go to church to play with her little friends and her foggy brained Mother can't seem to find her keys. We went to the beach yesterday and had such a great day. Played in the waves and the sand for several hours. Now I have no idea what I did with my keys when we came in. I usually put them in the same spot but apparently I didn't yesterday cause they sure aren't there. So now my punishment is to listen to a whiney toddler on Mother's Day! Ha I feel better now that I have whined about the whiney toddler lol.

So since I can't go to church and I am trying to tune out the whineyness I will tell you about our day at the beach. We got there and had a picnic lunch at the pavilion. It was yummy a little KFC chicken and chips and water with cookies for desert. We went down to the water after that and got settled. Anna wanted to go straight for the water and so I took her down and she liked it but I think it was a little cool for her so we stayed down for a few minutes and then went back to the sheet to play in the sand. I alternated between staying with her and playing in the sand and playing with Lisa and Hunter in the ocean. Jeff didn't like the water at all so he stayed with Anna at sheet playing in the sand. Lisa and I did leave the kids with Chris for a while so that we could go out into the bigger waves. However, High tide was coming in so we had to keep moving our stuff up and finallty ran out of room to move so we started packing up well at this point Anna decided that she wanted to play in the water and we had a hard time getting her to leave. She would run into the waves and giggle and run back up to dry land. It was so cute to watch and very exciting for me. I have always loved water and LOVE swimming so it is great for me thinking she will like it too. Of course I haven't really ever LOVED swimming in the ocean. My first time to the beach I unfortunately watched Jaws so now whenever I get in the ocean I think about all the things in there with me.

Well, we are into full fledged crying for Jeff Jeff so let me go see if I can console a broken heart. Happy Mother's Day!!!

OK Anna is napping so I can continue my blogging WooHoo!!! I want to say thanks to Chris for making the day at the beach possible. He had a rotten week at work and probably didn't want to go but he went anyway because that was what I wanted to do for Mother's Day. So THANK YOU so much for being there for me and taking me to the beach when you had rather be home chilling out. I had a blast and will always remember my second Mother's Day as wonderful!!!

Oh yeah pictures of our day out are in the slide show below here. So much fun!!!
